Westwood Park is a residential neighborhood located in southwestern San Francisco, California. Established in 1916, Westwood Park was marketed as an attractive place for families to raise children. Between 1918 and 1923, local newspapers ran ads to draw people to the area with the promise of being a “vacation without leaving the city.” The contracting firm, Barrett & Hilp, allowed homebuyers to choose their design from a catalog.
Nearly 500 of Westwood Park’s 650 homes were designed by architect Charles F. Strothoff in variations of Craftsman style and Mediterranean style bungalows. Today, families and retirees love Westwood Park’s peace and quiet, with gorgeous historic homes and a tight-knit community feel.

Since Westwood Park is a residential neighborhood, residents will have to look to the surrounding areas for most opportunities for shopping and dining. Thankfully, commute times are short, making for convenient access to the following destinations.
One popular and close restaurant is Sakesan Sushi & Robata, a Japanese restaurant serving both raw and cooked classic Japanese dishes. Another local favorite is Beep’s Burgers, a retro-style burger restaurant that also serves classic American fare. Golden China Restaurant is a great, casual chain eatery offering an extensive menu of Chinese classics, from noodles to chicken. Also popular in the area is That’s Amore SF, offering wood-fired pizzas, chicken strips, fries, and more.
For shopping, you don’t have to look too far out. Right outside on Ocean Avenue, you can find many great stores. One great place to go for events is Ocean Ale House., a casual pub located along Ocean Avenue that is known for its live music events every weekend. The City College of San Francisco is right next door with their George M Rush Stadium, where you can watch a variety of games. A popular concert series, Outside Lands Festival and Arts Festival, is held a short way away at Golden Gate Park in northern San Francisco.
If you want to spend a day out at a park, one great option is Aptos Park. This urban park offers many amenities, including a baseball diamond, tennis court, walking paths, and a children’s play structure. To the south, you can find Brooks Park, which has community vegetable and flower gardens as well as spaces for bocce, volleyball, and badminton.
